I Did Something Wrong

I made one of the biggest mistakes ever about two weeks ago. I got caught for petty theft, items $10. I feel so guilty and remorseful. Last week I confessed my sins to God and surrendered to him and asked for forgiveness. I know that I will have to pay the price for my actions, and I am ready to do that and put this behind me. Our local paper puts all arrests in the paper, now one person from my work got the paper and is showing everyone and she's posting things about it on Facebook. I deleted my Facebook because of it, now other people are saying all kind of horrible things about me. So now not only do I have to worry about the court date and what will happen to me, losing my job, I have to worry about all the gossip. I have been praying hard. I am so sorry and I will never steal anything ever again. What are some scriptures that I can read to help me through this? Thanks.

Take note that God forgave u the moment u prayed but satan is now accusing u. He is making u feel guilty as if God didn't forgive u when u prayed for forgiveness. Just believe in ur prayers and always remember that it was because of our sins that Jesus Christ died.

Thank you for your reply. You are so right. Satan know that I belong to God now and he is trying to get me with fear. I know that with God all things are possible and he will carry me through this, I am not alone for he is with me.Yes, I will pay for my actions, but I believe that he will not give me more than I can handle.

Immacatlady, the scripture said in Rom 8:1 that there is no more condemnation to them that are now in Christ Jesus. Now that you have given your life to Christ, He has forgiven u. You r to rejoice in him now. Tell Satan he is bluffing. Let him knw that if God be for u, nobody can b against u, not even the court (Rom 8:31) So just knw that God is now smiling at you ok. But please try not to do it again bcos scripture said if u continue in God u shall be successfully (James 1:25)

Remember what happen to Adam and Eve 4 taking what didn't belong to them , what was their punishment. Don't underestimate Jehovah, obedience is the best thing.

It seems you are an intelligent person, read this: 1 John 3:1-9; 5:18. Study this scripture and see where it takes you. God bless you. "All unrighteousness is sin!" All sin is taken away, 1John 3:5 John 16:8-10. Sin is unbelief -unbelief is sin.

Imacatlady: since we are all sinners, you can take alot of comfort in knowing that your sins are forgiven, bc you put your trust in Jesus Christ. When I first became a Christian, I too did a wrong. I told a'friend' exactly what I thought of our neighbor, & it wasn't very neighborly what I had to say. It doesn't matter if my judgment of her was accurate. What matters is that it's wrong to go around disparaging your neighbors. The woman I thought was my friend turned around and told everything I said to the neighbor woman. I later thought I would be kind, & brought her a baby gift. She opened her door, & in front of other neighbors she yelled at me all the things I had said about her behind her back. She rightly called me a hypocrite! It took me a long amount of time to turn my bad name around a little. That's what I want to leave you with: time is a great healer. And if you show that over time you can be trustworthy, I believe that honest people will be compassionate towards you and give you another chance. Even if you don't get everyone to forget this incident, it will serve to keep you humble... and that's a good thing.
